I've checked the forums and they say this will be fixed in a firmware update, so I'm not too concerned about it.Update: a firmware update has made repeat keys work on the remotes I've tested. For example, holding an arrow down to scroll only registers as a single keypress, so you have to press several times. It's freeing to know that ANY infrared remote can be used with my media center - even ones that never had it in mind. The only flaw I found(as of ) is that it does not support holding buttons down. The programming is stored on the FLIRC unit itself, so you can program it on your PC, and then plug it into the device you intend to use it on(if they're not one and the same). 4 Works with any remote! It's only flaw should be fixed with a firmware update. I would have liked to be able to change the remotes key assignments from the default, but im getting used to it. BEEN WORKING AWHILE: Ive been using it awhile now, about 2weeks, with Harmony 665 Remote and a Nvida Shield and its doing the job.

Its a throwaway device with not repair or serviceability. The case should be more permanently attached as there would never be a need to access the chip. When I try to pull it out the out case popped off to reveal the little chip inside. CHEAP CASE: Its a little plastic case but that snap locks over the chip. Makes not sense to me why those are chosen but as far as I can see the FLIRC nor the Harmony allow any other button choices. The "O" button on the Shield remote corresponds to the "Stop" button on the Harmony 665. The back or reverse arrown button on the Shield remote corresponds to the "Exit" button on the Harmony 665. makes sense so far right? Now here is where it goes awray. The center button on the Shield remote is the "OK" or center button on the Harmony 665. I could find nothing so I did a button by button experiments to figure it out.The left, right, up, down button on the Shield remote correspond to the same buttons on the Harmony 665. NO REMOTE BUTTON ASSIGNMENT HELP: Now the next struggle was what buttons on the remote replicate the simple NVIDA SHIELD remote. I was able to control the device by IR from my Harmony remote. First it allowed me to update the firmware to the latest. I searched the website and struggled my way and found an. It would have been good if the site was referenced on a slip of paper in the box it came in. NO INSTRUCTIONS In Box: Opening the box first discovery is that there are no instructions. The FLIRC seemed like a good inexpensive solution vs what Harmony suggested which was to by their $250 hub that would provide the BT interface. I discovered when I tried to used my Harmony 665 with it that it does not use IR for its control but used Bluetooth. Works I wanted to use the FLIRC to provide infrared remote control for a NVIDIA Shield. Electronic Dictionaries, Thesauri & Translators.
